**We're looking for a Tai Chi Instructor to join our growing team**

Our Tai Chi instructor must be available for one class a week Monday - Friday. Exact day and time is negotiable.

**Classes are held at 254 Lakewood Blvd (Southdale Community Centre).**

**U-Turn Parkinson’s is a non-profit organization that works to empower people living with Parkinson’s Disease (PD)**through the delivery of research-based exercise and wellness programming focused on targeting the symptoms of PD. U-Turn Parkinson’s Fitness Instructors are responsible for leading weekly PD focused wellness and exercise classes. As PD affects individuals differently, our Instructors must be able to provide and demonstrate suitable and safe modifications of exercises for a range of abilities including standing and seated options. Our Instructors have what it takes to engage and lead participants in a fun and safe environment.

**A U-Turn Parkinson’s Tai Chi Instructor has one or more of the following qualifications**:

- Certified Fitness Instructor Certificate
- Tai Chi Leader Certificate or equivalent
- Post-Secondary Degree and Professional License and/or designation in a relevant clinical field such as Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Kinesiology, etc.
- Up-to-date CPR/First Aid Training (required).
- A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

**Specific Tai Chi Instructor responsibilities**:
Every U-Turn Parkinson’s Instructor has the responsibility to provide a safe, fun, and challenging class atmosphere for U-Turn Parkinson’s Members by accommodating the following:

- Class planning, set-up, implementation and clean up with appropriate exercises for people living with Parkinson's (Parkinson's training provided).
- General instruction and demonstration of exercises for U-Turn Parkinson’s members including appropriate seated or standing modifications where/as necessary.
- Obtain knowledge of class participant challenges/needs including fall risks, liability waivers (all provided by U-Turn Parkinson’s) and any other issues that may require intervention based on the on-going assessment and observation of participants in class.
- Take attendance each class using the MindBody App.
- Delegate and direct volunteers (U-Crew) as needed in the set-up, duration, and clean-up of classes.
- Communicate any needs, issues, questions or concerns as necessary to the Program Manager.
- Act as the main voice of direction, reason and delegation of responsibilities in case of an emergency during the class.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 3 per week
