**Job Summary**
- Dalhousie University’s Office of Advancement is responsible for all fundraising and alumni engagement activities at the institution. A growing team of over 100 professionals cultivates relationships with alumni and friends of the university and works with donors to help them achieve personal fulfilment through philanthropic investment. Dalhousie donors commit in aggregate over $50 million each year in the interest of supporting student success, scientific research, and community impact. Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Manager will facilitate donor-centred engagement and stewardship through strategic touchpoints that show gratitude, enhance the donor experience, and inspire future gifts.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develops and manages thoughtful and customized program-specific impact materials in support of faculties and units across campus
- Serves as project manager - manages all steps from concept to content development to production, including directing graphic designers, photographers, videographers, sourcing special material, and web content. Obtains project and fee quotes and develops and manages budget.
- Manage the production of Giving Power, Dalhousie’s biannual impact publication. Establish theme, determine editorial, assign stories to writers, direct graphic designers, photographers, videographers.
- Develop and lead the stewardship strategy for National Philanthropy Day. The strategy is likely to vary each year depending on the needs of the Office of Advancement, Dalhousie University, and the philanthropic environment
- Research and draft acknowledgement letters for gifts including letters under the President and the VP, Advancement signature. These letters should be tailored to the relevant recipient to ensure maximum impact
- Provides communications advice, planning and support to development team and faculties in support of donor relations major gifts and annual fund.

**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree, plus five years of progressive experience in donor relations, fundraising and/or public relations and communications (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Proven track record of successful leadership in donor relations; volunteer management; and/or major gift fundraising.
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external constituencies, including donors, volunteers, faculty, and others.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to listen is essential. Ability to ask leading questions that encourage prospects and donors to talk about themselves.
- Ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to create efficient systems.
