M.A.S.S. NOTICE OF TEMPORARY VACANCY
**Position**: Temporary Manager of Professional Services
**Salary Range**: $117,176.00 - $139,734.00- Band 10
**Allowance**: $13,998.00 - $16,428.00
**Location**: Student Well-being & Mental Health, New Street Education Centre
**Work Schedule**: 35 hours/week, 12 months/year
**Effective Date**: November 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Superintendent of Education, the Manager of Professional Services will be responsible for the supervision (job management and/or clinical supervision) of professional services staff. Currently the focus of this position is on the Child Youth Counsellor portfolio. The position liaises with community agencies and other school board departments. The Manager is responsible for key portfolios and/or projects as assigned and provides coordination between the school board and community services for students with complex needs.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Management/Supervision of Staff**:
**In consultation with Human Resources**:
Interviews and hires staff
Coaches and advises staff with respect to their roles; provides ongoing coaching/mentoring and direction to PSSP staff, and ensures ongoing professional development for all members of the team
Ensures completion of certification training and addresses staff concerns related to workplace Health and Safety
Provides clinical consultation and direction in situations of risk to students and staff (i.e., suicide, child abuse, violence)
Understands and applies collective agreements
Monitors of staff schedules, caseloads, and waiting lists
Conducts staff growth and appraisal process
Plays a leadership role during discipline meetings
Participates in disability and attendance management meetings
Communicates with Professional Student Services Personnel (PSSP) Union Executive
Assures adherence to college guidelines and board policies and procedures
Consults with Board legal counsel as needed (with approval of Superintendent)
For psychologists/psychological associates, clinical supervision for non-registered Psychology personnel as required by the College of Psychologists of Ontario
Coordination of School Board & Community Services for Students with Complex Needs
Coordinates multidisciplinary teams and participates in joint problem-solving regarding student needs
Contributes to case conferences to facilitate problem solving
Coordinates the allocation of Professional Student Services staff support to students and families
Liaises with community partners as needed
Case Consultation and Problem Solving
Provides consultative support to administrators and PSSP staff during problem solving processes
Coordinates Student Well-Being staff to provide efficient and effective service
Goal Setting and Direction
Participates actively in the Student Well-Being Leadership team
Provides direction for CYC support throughout the Board (menu of services, guidelines/ standards of practice, connection to Mental Health Action Plan) and supports the direction of services for the Mental Health Psychology Workers
Manages key portfolios and Student Well-Being initiatives and projects across the system
Establishes and implements goals for Social Work service
Community Collaboration and Partnerships
Participates in community steering committees
Collaborates with community partners to develop and implement community initiatives
Interprets and applies Board and Ministry policies (e.g., privately purchased services, external agency agreements)
Initiates, creation and maintains effective partnerships with community agencies
**Qualifications**:
Completion of Masters or graduate degree in one of the following fields (Psychology, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work);
Six (6) years’ experience working in a school board setting;
Substantial experience working on a multidisciplinary team;
Familiarity with the Education Act, Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), Standards of Practice for each regulated discipline, privacy legislation and related practices;
Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (Social Worker); College of Psychologists of Ontario (Psychologist or Psychological Associate); or College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (Speech and Language Pathologist)
