**About the faculty/service**: Access to Information and Privacy Office
We promote privacy best practices at the University of Ottawa, help staff protect the University against privacy breaches and offer support in situations where a breach may have occured. We also ensure the University upholds its commitment to the principles of access to information as set out in Policy 90.
**Position purpose**:
Reporting to the Director, Access to Information and Chief Privacy Officer, the Analyst, Access to Information and Privacy plays a crucial role in the Access to Information and Privacy Office’s mandate to ensure the University’s overall compliance of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and other applicable privacy and access to information legislation. The analyst is responsible to provide information, advice and analysis and liaise with various offices at the University in response to privacy breaches, privacy complaints and access to information requests.
**In this role you will**:
Coordinate the gathering and review of records and prepare response relating to FIPPA requests.
Perform extensive analysis and review of complex records responsive to access to information request and make recommendation to the Director, Access to Information and Chief Privacy Officer on the applicability of exclusions and exemptions pursuant to FIPPA and redact records.
Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) related and assess privacy risks and propose mitigation mechanisms or strategies.
**What you will bring**:
Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written).
At least five years of senior administrative experience in a corporate or public sector setting.
University degree or equivalent experience in administration, legal or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of FIPPA, related access to information and privacy regulation and procedures.
In-depth knowledge of the University’s policies and procedures related to access to information and protection of privacy.
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills with ability to anticipate office needs.
Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks.
Ability to work under pressure while ensuring quality control.
Professionalism, judgment, sensorial sensitivity, tact and discretion needed to ensure that the Access to Information and Privacy Office operates efficiently.
Experience in dealing with the public.
Experience in dealing with senior management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to operate personal computer and working knowledge of software’s such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AdobePro, web publishing tools, as well as the ability to learn new software.
Ability to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines.
