Our Technologies team commercializes and delivers technologies across all three of Hatch's sectors: Metals, Energy, Infrastructure. We're a team of innovators and problem solvers who deliver custom and specialized engineering to deliver novel solutions and technologies. Seeking an **Intellectual Property Legal Assistant **to join our Technologies IP Group in **Mississauga, ON.** This is a collaborative role for a legal assistant or law clerk who is looking for an opportunity to work closely with inventors, development teams, business owners, IP strategy team, clients, and external lawyers. This is an in-person position. **Responsibilities**: 1. Daily administration of a >400 patent portfolio 2. Maintain Hatch’s internal docketing database and monitor patent due dates (i.e. office actions, renewals, etc.) and follow-up with appropriate internal parties and external counsel. 3. Support and coordination for patent reviews, disclosure, and patent filings for review, filing deadlines, etc. 4. Prepare for and coordinate annual review for each team’s patent portfolio. 5. Review patent related invoices and coding of invoices for internal approvals / payment. 6. Prepare reports and presentations, as required, including docket reports, data summary, status reports, cost summary, etc. 8. Other related duties, as assigned. **Qualifications**: 1. Should possess at least 5 years of experience in intellectual property, either as an IP Legal Assistant or Patent Clerk; preferably in a law firm. 2. Successful completion of a post-secondary program, either Legal Assistant or IP Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate. 3. Should be technically proficient in the following software tools: - MS Office suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Outlook - Foundation IP or similar docketing software - Patent search tools such as PatSnap or TotalPatentOne. 4. Familiar with the patenting process and basics of patent laws. 5. Demonstrates initiative and judgement, highly organized, and detail oriented. 6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to network internally. 7. Shows due discretion when dealing with confidential information.
