The City is committed to the professional development of our staff and invite you to come, grow with us The Day Camp Counsellor position will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to the following: planning and implementing activities, crafts, recreational games and special events for day camp participants according to the established City of Brantford policies and procedures. Counsellors will also monitor groups of day camp children ages 6-13 assisting in effective behaviour management of day campers. This position requires working in various weather conditions and locations including indoor and outdoor spaces at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and Earl Haig Family Fun Park. This position will require swimming and being in pools and/or splashpads with children and youth on a daily basis. The position includes responding to any first aid emergencies within the camp setting. The length of employment for the Day Camp Counsellor - Aquatic Camp will be 8-9 weeks depending on location. Qualifications: - Completion of the City of Brantford Youth Leadership Development program is considered an asset - Possess the skills and abilities to perform the duties listed above - Strong leadership skills, and have previous experience with children and/or youth in a recreational setting - Prior experience planning and implementing children's and/or youth programs and activities is an asset - Experience working with children/youth with diverse needs is considered an asset - A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with a level "C" CPR is mandatory and must be submitted prior to commencing employment - Completion of Lifesaving Society Bronze Star or above considered an asset - Successful completion of Safeguard will be required prior to commencing employment - Applicants must submit a current Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the past 3 months) must be submitted for approval by the corporation prior to commencing employment - Interviews for this position will commence March 2025 **Our organization is committed to promoting the independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity of persons with disabilities by ensuring the accessibility of our facilities and services.
