**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Registered Dietitian (RD) is a regulated health professional responsible for assessing nutritional status and developing nutrition care goals to optimize the health and wellbeing of clients. The RD provides recommendations to the client, family, partner and interprofessional care team for ongoing treatment and evaluation. The RD works within a team and collaborates with clients, families, partners and health professionals to provide ongoing diabetes education with the goal of maximizing self-management for the client.

**WHAT YOU BRING**

Education/Experience:

- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship practicum
- Registered Dietitian holding current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
- Certified Diabetes Educator designated by the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board, or working towards designation
- Membership in the Diabetes Educators Section of the Canadian Diabetes Association is desirable
- Experience with insulin pump management and pediatric diabetes is preferred

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in the workplace with clients, families, and the general public
- Ability to use independent judgment and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information
- Ability to work independently, interdependently, and collaboratively within a model of interprofessional care
- Ability to demonstrate reflective practice
- Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory **Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)**where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
