**Role Description - Carpenter - Journeyman or Apprentice Opportunity**

We are currently looking to hire a Carpenter at a project site on **Salt Spring Island**.

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the role is diverse, varies between each project and is a safety-sensitive position. With the Site Superintendents oversight, duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Prepare layouts.
- Rough Carpentry labour
- Load and unload construction materials and move materials to work areas.
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades required at construction sites.
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware
- Project Clean-up
- Operate devices and equipment.
- Perform regular site clean up.

**Skills & Knowledge**:

- Follows direction well and recognizes when to ask for additional information or assistance before commencing work.
- Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills to both Supervisors and subordinates.
- Able to get along with others and work both as a team and independently.
- Takes initiative and learns new tasks quickly.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- Able to solve arithmetic problems quickly and accurately.
- First aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
