**Job Summary**:
The Financial Analyst-NSSL, under the direction of the Sr. Financial Analyst, will primarily be responsible to provide general counsel, advice, and guidance on business and financial matters as required. This position will maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities. This role will also advise on the content and accuracy of financial reporting. The Financial Analyst-NSSL must possess pursuing or interest in pursuing a CPA designation and degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
**Job Duties**:
- Provide general counsel, advice, and guidance on business and financial matters as required
- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities
- Advise on the content and accuracy of financial reporting
- Act as the first line contact with vendors or clients regarding billing problems
- Ensure that all month-end financial duties and resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Record all business transactions, process accruals and adjustments, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and financial statements
- Prepare monthly submissions for accounting and monthly remittances
- Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any internal or external audits or independent reviews being conducted
- Review cash control procedures and monitor safeguarding of assets
- Collect, interpret, and report on financial data
- Prepare financial statements and bank reconciliations
- Process and enter invoices for payment, match invoices with purchase orders, and check for accuracy
- Review and update credit and loan files
- Organize filing of all appropriate documents
- Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances
- Monitor applicable legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and operations, and ensure compliance
- Report any and all inconsistencies in corporate strategy in order to improve financial performance and adjust company policy accordingly
**Job Requirements**:
- Pursuing or interest in pursuing CPA designation
- Degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field
- Three years of experience in accounting
- Ability to analyse and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms
- Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- High level of integrity and excellent work ethic
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
