**About the Opportunity**:
The position reports to the Health Services Manager of Primary Health Care and functions as a key team member and is responsible to provide clerical support to the Chronic Disease team at Diabetes Centre and other Chronic Disease projects within Guysborough Memorial Hospital (GMH) catchment area as needed. This position supports and coordinates efficient daily operations of services and programs in a professional manner, promotes good working relationships, and supports the philosophy of client and family centered care. Meets standards of professionalism which reflect the vision, mission, goals and objectives and adheres to the policies and procedures of NSH.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receiving intake referral, obtaining necessary patient information booking initial and ongoing appointments for patients and notifying them of appointments.
- Answering phone, receiving, triaging and relaying messages
- Managing patient records and databases (both electronic and paper), preparation of statistical reports
- Typing, preparing and distributing reports, letters, agendas, minutes, memos, patient information
- Develop and revise forms, templates and processes when necessary
- Support presentation preparation
- Scheduling meetings and booking rooms, catering as required
- Ordering, receiving and storing requisitioned office/clinic supplies
- Compiling and filing discharged charts
- Incoming mail and fax distribution
- Completing patient billing procedures as required
- Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring of a tracking system/ to monitor and report on clinical outcome measures for the collaborative practice and other work
- Trouble shoot equipment malfunctions and make requests for repairs
- Transcription
- Photocopying
- Other duties as required
- May require mínimal travel

**About You**:

- Graduate of a Recognized Business/Medical Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Medical Terminology Course
- Previous experience in a health care setting
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows and all components of Microsoft Office including Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Internet
- Must be familiar with Meditech and DCPNS data base or be willing to obtain training
- Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
- Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
- Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSH patients and clients
- Travel to other sites may be required
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

- Permanent, Part-time (40%) position; 28 hours bi-weekly

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$20.09 - $21.90 hourly
