**Part-time Midnight Shelter Counsellor**

Hiatus House, a shelter for abused women and their children, requires a **Part-time Midnight Shelter Counsellor.**

We offer many services and programs; 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, transitional and housing support, and many more.

**The Role**

The Midnight Shelter Counsellor works within the shelter program, providing counselling, crisis intervention, referrals and support.

**Responsibilities**:

- Crisis Intervention, assessment and intakes
- Counselling and support
- Providing information and referrals
- Supporting clients via phone and in-person
- Shifts are every Saturday, Sunday and Monday 12:00am to 8:45am.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- B.S.W. or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 3 years of direct service

**Additional Skills**:

- Knowledge and experience in the areas of intimate partner violence, family violence and human trafficking
- Demonstrated social work clinical assessment and intervention skills within a shelter setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Communicate professionally in written and oral French preferred
- Proficiency in other languages is preferred
