We provide a secure, clean, and welcoming home for the child and youth in our care.

**Job Position**

The Circle of Courage is looking for a weekend part-time overnight awake Child & Youth Care Worker for our supportive youth homes in Edmonton, who are responsible for implementing the day-to-day operations. The CYCW will be devoted to promoting the personal development of the child or youth in their care by offering and maintaining a caring, safe, supportive home environment that consists of their Aboriginal culture, traditions and history to help gain a sense of purpose and identity for the youths.

**Hours: Monday - Friday ** | 7am-3pm

**Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Assist and support individuals with developing and achieving personal goals.
- Ensure individuals basic needs are met (personal care, life skills and social/occupational skills)
- Assist with day to day operation and maintenance of the residence/program facility (May include cleaning, laundry, dishwashing, changing lines or assisting the youth in care with the completion of these tasks, etc.)
- Teach youth independent living skills such as; communication, emotional well being, problem solving, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, being a positive role model, etc.
- Accompany and safely transport youth to and from school, on outings, and to medical appointments, as needed.
- Supervise and participate in programming and recreational activities in order to ensure safety and the provision of a positive role model for the youth.
- Encourage, promote and enable youth to make changes and develop age-appropriate life skills (coping, problem solving, etc.)
- Work in cooperation with others to plan, support and/or deliver culturally appropriate programs, services, workshops, and outings; encouraging them to learn and participate in their culture.
- Consult and collaborate with the youth, staff and other relevant individuals to identify the needs and goals of the youth
- Connect the youth to the community resources, assets and/or contacts that will further their independence.
- Review and complete communication, medication, daily logs, and other documentation as required while on shift and before leaving shift.

**Education & Certifications Required**:

- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the Human Services field or equivalent experience
- 2 years experience in group homes and/or supported independent living.
- Must provide a current (within past 6 months) criminal record check and Children’s Services Intervention check prior to confirmation of employment
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract with personal car insurance (2 million in third party liability)
- Must be able to deal with any crisis situations, to ensure safety for youth in the program.
- First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Suicide Intervention, Self Harm, Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration training
- Aboriginal awareness and cultural diversity training
- Able to work and follow Circle of Courage Group Care Inc. policies and procedures and adhere to Alberta Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
