**Weekend and Night Shelter Worker**

**(Permanent Saturday Night position)**

**Auberge Shalom pour femmes (ASPF)** is a Jewish community-based center addressing the needs of all women and children whose lives have been affected by intimate partner violence regardless of their background or religion. We provide a continuum of professional services in both a shelter setting and in an external counseling office.

All services are provided in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. Auberge Shalom is committed to breaking the cycle of violence through education, prevention and advocacy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide frontline services to shelter clients including telephone intake, telephone support services and referrals and crisis intervention, as needed
- Ensure smooth running of shelter during shift
- Participate in staff meetings every 10-12 weeks
- Work as part of a diverse team using a trauma-and-resilience-informed approach

QUALIFICATIONS
- AEC or DEC in social services or related area of study
- Bilingual in French and English
- Knowledgeable about intimate partner violence and women’s issues
- Experience working with cultural sensitivity
- Flexibility and ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Work experience in related field
- Understanding of the Jewish community and its customs (asset)
- Ability to communicate in a third language (asset)

WORKING CONDITIONS
- **Position Type**: Part-time, permanent
- **Start Date**: As soon as possible
- **Starting Salary**: $24.56/ Daytime hours and $19.65 / Night hours

Additional shifts available as on-call emergency back-up (day & overnights & weekends)
- **Work Schedule**: Saturday evening from 5:30 PM to 9:30 AM Sunday morning
