**Environmental Technician**
**Location**
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic
Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities,
especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of
Vancouver and the Okanagan.
**Summary**
Reporting to the Environment Manager, the Environmental Technician is responsible for working with the
environment team to complete environmental monitoring activities.
This is a temporary role on a 5x2 rotation, 8-hour shifts, and day shift.
**Responsibilities**
- Participates in all Environment and Health & Safety programs of CMM and supports the Copper
Mountain Mine safety culture through involvement in daily and monthly safety meetings and initiatives,
- Adheres strictly to PPE requirements in all areas while on mine property,
- Follows all Company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs),
- Ensures all standard environmental practices are achieving the highest level of environmental
stewardship and compliance,
- Assists with on-site environmental sampling, preparing samples for shipment,
- Updates environmental data and reporting in our Environmental Data Management System,
- Participates in wildlife monitoring projects, including installing, and managing on-site wildlife cameras,
- Calibrates and performs maintenance on environmental monitoring equipment,
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Environmental Technician role as required or as
assigned by the department head.
**Education & Experience
- Diploma in Sciences, with a strong preference for natural resources, environmental sciences, biology,
environmental monitoring and planning, or a closely related field,
- Environmental experience in conducting fieldwork is considered an asset,
- Prior work experience with environmental compliance and monitoring in the mining industry is highly
considered,
- Experience operating Four Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles, snowmobiles, and ATV units considered an
asset,
- Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate and
present ideas,
- Have high regard for personal safety and the safety of company property and other employees,
- Ability to set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain field equipment,
- Ability to prepare documentation as well as regulatory and internal reports,
- Skill in working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment,***

- Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously under tight
deadlines,

- Ability to walk several kilometres while carrying sampling equipment,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
**Working Conditions**
- Frequent exposure to various conditions associated with working outdoors, including weather
conditions, e.g., rain, snow, heat, cold; hiking, and working in remote locations,
- Exposure to associated risks involved with field specimen, data, and sample collection,
- May be required to perform repetitive heavy lifting or moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,
- Work will require manual dexterity to operate and calibrate field equipment, tools, and computer
peripherals,
- Work will require operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain,
including winter driving.
