**Other Information**:8hr/day assignment (7am - 4pm)

**Responsibilities**:

- Wash, clean, sweep, and keep rooms in safe and sanitary condition, all rooms, stairs, halls, furniture, fixtures,

glass, and equipment, including lavatory in allotted areas.
- Cleaning of all entrances, sidewalks, black top play areas, and parking lot (ice & snow in winter)
- Cater to public using and renting space in school
- Lock and secure all doors and windows at end of shift
- Clean all equipment at end of shift
- Replace burnt out bulbs in building (interior, exterior, and exit lights)
- Maintenance for cleaning of all mechanical and electrical equipment
- Do minor painting when designated
- Make minor repairs to furniture, building, and equipment
- Checking and cleaning air filters
- Check and put on security system when leaving school
- Check fire extinguishers weekly
- Check crawl space, roof, and roof mounted equipment periodically (weekly recommended) and report to the

Maintenance Supervisor of any defects
- Notify police and maintenance supervisor of any vandalism or break-ins
- Do a thorough job of housecleaning offices including dusting of furniture, counters, etc.
- Perform other related duties as may be requested by the Principal or the Maintenance Supervisor

**Qualifications**:

- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
- Fluency in French and English is considered an asset
- Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
- Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
- Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
- Communication skills
- Ability to life heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at heights
- The incumbent must have a minimum of four (4) years of practical experience in a related environment.

Journeyman’s papers or a 5th Class Power Engineer’s Certificate would be an asset

As a condition of employment, all new hires must complete a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable
sector search, and child abuse registry check as part of the hiring process.

Salary & benefits for this position will be administered in accordance with the SRSD/Custodian collective bargaining
agreement (CBA).
