**About LJC**

**Our Board of Directors**

We are highly valued volunteers who are passionate and truly value giving back to seniors on limited income in our community. Our focus is preserving our 134 unit building so we can provide affordable housing for decades to come.

**We meet at 560 Austin Ave. Coquitlam, BC the 4th Tuesday of each month nine months during the year.** Directors serve two-year terms to a maximum of nine consecutive years. Our role includes building strong relationships in the community with other service providers, local city counsellors, members of the legislative assembly, and members of parliament.

**Directors’ Qualities**

While expertise in our specific industry is not a requirement, it would be an asset. An ideal Director would bring experience and passion in one of more of the following skill sets.
- Accounting, bookkeeping, fiscal management
- Information Technology experience
- Government/Private Sector grant research and securement experience
- Non-profit or charitable sector board experience
- Lived experience with poverty / has a parent living in low-income housing.
- Building construction and/or architectural experience
- Media relations / networking

**Your Commitment**

1. Volunteer for a minimum two-year term.

2. Five - ten hours a month.

3. In-person attendance to monthly Board meetings (except July, August and December).

4. Support the values of our organization and follow Society Policies and Bylaws

5. Participate in strategic planning and sub committees as needed.

6. Support special events (typically one or two per year).
