Working as part of the interdisciplinary team, reporting to the Director, the Shelter Team Lead will be responsible for implementing the policies and procedures, providing support and care to individuals who are unhoused. Provide direct supervision and support to the staff, students, and volunteers. Work in collaboration with the leadership team to uphold organizational mission, vision, and values. This position will require a high level of resilience and willingness to work in challenging situations.
- Keep in/out records of the persons staying
- Ensure signatures are obtained on the “guest agreement”
- Enforce the policies and expectations in the guest agreement
- Report any incidents to the co-ordinator and or the police
- Open and close the premises
- Supervise all staff ensuring company policies are being followed
- Complete required documentation in a thorough and timely manner with a focus on maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure thorough record keeping including Event Reports (documenting how the team supported the guest in meeting a need/goal and any concerns/issues while on shift, Incident Reports, Communication Book, guest files, and occupancy statistics.
- Be a person of integrity;
- Show a commitment to assisting homeless and at-risk persons;
- Be able to stay calm when confronted with stressful situations and be assertive to de-escalate potentially volatile situations;
- Be comfortable dealing with individuals under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and with individuals suffering with mental health issues;
- Ensure that services are delivered within a stable, safe, and respectful environment;
- Provide a valid criminal check;
- Excellent written, verbal, time management and organizational skills
- Work co-operatively with volunteers
- Have a diploma/degree/accreditation in an appropriate discipline
- Experience with staff supervision

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
