**General information**
Reporting to the HSE Director, the Health, Safety and Environment Prevention Officer will be responsible for helping a dedicated team of HSE professionals promote a safe, healthy and sustainable workplace. You work directly with operations (80% of the working time on the floor) and other staff to reduce risk, support improvement actions, achieve plant objectives and ensure that activities comply with company and regulatory requirements.
**Responsibilities**
In your role as an HSE Prevention Officer at Hitachi Energy, you will
- Ensure a constant presence and support on the production floor
- To help supervisors and managers achieve exceptional HSE performance.
- Assist the organization in complying with all applicable corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and executing HSE management systems.
- Conduct HSE-related audits and inspections.
- Assist with investigations and case analysis.
- Monitoring of improvement measures to ensure completion and effectiveness.
- Participate in daily meetings.
- Daily handover to peers when changing shifts.
- Be part of the emergency brigade (working at heights, confined space, fire, spill)
- Provide suggestions for improving HSE training programs, procedures and materials
- Organize activities to raise awareness and increase employee and supervisor participation and encourage safe behaviors
- Collaborate in strategic HSE planning.
- Live the core values of safety and integrity.
- Any other related tasks.
**Qualifications**
- Diploma/certificate in OHS, industrial hygiene or fire safety - An asset
- Two years of full-time OHS-related experience OR five years of industry experience with demonstrated OHS involvement.
- Motivated and organized.
- Ready to take internal and external professional development training.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to work with digital solutions.
- Team player
- Bilingual (French/English)
- Experience and/or familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 (an asset)
