By providing integrated, low-barrier support services, we aim to enhance the quality of life, physical health, and overall well-being of individuals in our community. We take a person-centered, equity-focused approach to ensure that clients have access to the care they need when they need it. Services will be offered across Dufferin County at various locations and through mobile outreach.

**Position Summary**
Choices Shelter and Support Services is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Employment Support Specialist to be an integral part of the HART Hub Dufferin, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive, integrated care services to vulnerable individuals. The Employment Support Specialist provides individualized employment-focused services to individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The role involves supporting clients to identify strengths, develop job readiness skills, access training and employment opportunities, and maintain sustainable employment. The Specialist works collaboratively with housing support staff, community partners, and employers to reduce barriers and promote long-term stability through employment.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Client Support & Case Management**
- Conduct intake assessments to determine employment history, skills, interests, and barriers to employment.
- Develop individualized employment action plans in collaboration with clients.
- Provide one-on-one coaching in job readiness skills such as résumé writing, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, and digital literacy.
- Support clients in accessing training programs, certifications, and other skill-development opportunities.
- Connect clients with job opportunities that align with their skills and career goals.
- Provide ongoing follow-up and job retention support.
**Employer & Community Engagement**
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers, training providers, and community organizations.
- Educate employers about homelessness-related barriers and advocate for inclusive hiring practices.
- Coordinate job fairs, workshops, and networking events for clients.
- Support job matching and act as a liaison between clients and employers when appropriate.
**Collaboration & Program Development**
- Work closely with housing support workers, case managers, and other service providers to ensure integrated client care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service planning.
- Track client progress and outcomes using case management systems.
- Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.
**Administrative Duties**
- Maintain accurate and timely client records.
- Prepare reports and documentation for funders, management, and stakeholders.
- Adhere to confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards.
**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**
- Diploma or degree in Social Services, Employment Counselling, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in employment counselling, job development, or related support work (experience in homelessness or social services preferred).
- Training in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing considered an asset.
**Skills & Competencies**
- Strong understanding of employment barriers faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Knowledge of local labour market trends and employment resources.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and case management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and client management databases.
**Working Conditions**
- Full-time, primarily community-based with some office work at Edelbrock Centre in Orangeville, Ontario
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.
- Travel within the community to meet with clients, employers, and partners.
Pay: $26.67-$30.67 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
