Business Intelligence Specialist, Information Management

The Business Intelligence Specialist’s role is to strategically design and implement Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards

and maintain data integrity, including integration with databases and data warehouses. This includes blueprinting,

gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out BI solutions to end users. The Business Intelligence Specialist will

liaise with both internal and external contacts to ensure the accuracy, integrity and usefulness of the information

provided on corporate reports. The Business Intelligence Specialist has responsibility for the ongoing operational

management and analysis of information within Providence Care’s information systems that support the capture and

reporting of the Common Data Set - Mental Health (CDS-MH) and the Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN)***

**Role Responsibilities**
- Organize, and lead projects in the implementation and use Power BI
- Assist in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
- Conduct job duties and responsibilities according to the organization’s developing Analytics and Business
- Intelligence Strategy.
- Design and deliver end-user testing, training and training materials; provide technical support where required.

- Contributes to recommendations for operational efficiency based on analysis, including redesign/restructure of and

sensitive reports utilizing client and staff information including overtime, sick time, workload, productivity and
financial information for benchmarking for program leadership to support program changes including
redesign/restructure, creation and removal of services or programs
- Prepares mandatory submissions to external agencies that are the responsibility of Decision Support
- Develops, designs, tests, maintains and produces reports on various data holdings within Providence Care to meet
- the needs of various stakeholders
- Assists in the development, design and implementation of appropriate data collection tools and specialized and
- sensitive reports to ensure optimal use and interpretation to meet program and service needs
- Remains current with reporting requirements as mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the Local

Health Integration Network and applicable legislation including but not limited to, the MIS standards, Common Data
Set-Mental Health and privacy management
- Performs and develops quality improvement activities to ensure the collection and reporting of data remains

accurate and current and meets required mandated time frames
- Liaises with Financial Services, reconciling both financial and clinical statistical information for submission to the

Ministry of Health and for use internally

**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- Diploma in Information Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration
- Minimum of three years of experience in a health care setting using hospital systems, including experience working
- with databases such as MS Access or SQL
- Minimum one year of experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar Business intelligence tool
- Minimum one year of experience with MIS reporting requirements, Ministry reporting such as CDS-MH, OCAN,
- Resident Assessment Instruments and CIHI data submissions
- Minimum one year of experience in business systems analysis and/or problem resolution
- Minimum one year of experience with software vendor relations
