**Introduction & Key Role Objective**
WJ Groundwater is the leading construction dewatering and groundwater specialist in the UK, with operations in Canada, the Middle East, Poland, and the Philippines. We have specialized plant and equipment that allows us to install custom dewatering and water management systems in various construction environments. WJG has established robust diesel pumping divisions in several overseas branches but has yet to develop this service offering in Canada.
The principal function of this position is to support the growth and development of WJ Groundwater Canada’s diesel Pumping Division. This includes business development, responding to tenders, overview of the quotation process, specification for bypass pumping schemes, procurement of key assets, negotiation of bypass pumping contracts, and support for the delivery and execution of successful tenders.

**Key areas of responsibility**
Carry out contract management duties:
- Build WJ Canada’s pumping division. Develop strategy to gain market share and implement it.
- Develop procurement plan for plant and equipment. WJ has technical resources and pumping assets available overseas
- Develop pumping solutions for local market, that may include and not limited to services already offered internationally including bypass and municipality pumping, plugging works, industrial pumping services, flushing, mine dewatering, oil & gas water transfer, flood mitigation, specialist pump rental services and HDPE pipework services.
- Lead the pursuit of work for WJ Canada in the bypass pumping sector.
- Assist in and overview the tender preparation process. This includes managing of the tender team and review of tender pricing and bypass pumping system selection.
- Review and critique proposals plans and designs related bypass pumping systems.
- Negotiate and secure awards for new pumping projects.
- Lead subcontract negotiations and subsequent subcontract documentation reviews to ensure WJ’s interests and requirements are protected wherever possible.
- Manage contract negotiations, subcontract documentation reviews, commercial and contractual management of the subcontract and dispute resolution.
- Liaise and work with the technical staff to ensure technical delivery of our projects is of a high standard to maintain our “technical expertise” position within the industry.
- Lead the bypass pumping team to ensure successful completion and delivery of projects, including being responsible for the management of Bypass Pumping Personnel (i.e. performance management, hiring/dismissal decisions, etc.)
- Support the Finance Department and Project Managers in the commercial success of projects and in revenue collection.
- Contribute to the development of Company strategic objectives.
- Provide expert advice and leadership to colleagues.
- **Qualifications & Experience**
- A motivated and hardworking individual with good written and communication skills is essential.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience within the pump rental or pump services industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of bypass pumping methodologies and technology.
- Experience producing documents required for environmental and regulatory compliance would be beneficial
- Resourcefulness, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised in often difficult site conditions.
- The ability to plan and organize own workload as well as that of the bypass pumping team.
- Experience and confidence in managing others.
- Comprehensive awareness of commercial issues, ideally including a good understanding and knowledge of construction industry contracts.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and written communication skills - the ability to communicate complicated and sometimes complex concepts is an essential requirement.
