Specialized Educational Assistant

- Provide direct, individualized support to a designated child to promote engagement, participation, and success in classroom and school activities.
- Implement strategies and interventions aligned with the child’s Individual Support Plan (ISP) under the guidance of the Coordinator of Early Learning and Development and classroom teacher.
- Assist in facilitating the child’s learning, social integration, and self-regulation skills in collaboration with educational and support teams.
- Provide coaching to the child to support healthy, positive friendships and peer interactions.
- Provide direct intervention to ensure safety of the designated child and classroom, in times of heightened emotion.
- Support transitions between activities and settings, anticipating and mitigating challenges.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and specialists to monitor and document progress toward behavioural and educational goals.
- Maintain thorough and confidential records of interventions, observations, and daily notes.
- Actively supervise the child during all school activities, including classroom time, specialist classes, outdoor play, meals, and field trips.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development related to supporting students with behavioural needs.
- In collaboration with the classroom teacher, provide regular written communications to the child's family, with updates on progress, successes, and areas of growth.
- Maintain professional attitudes, discretion, and loyalty to CFIS.
- Follow directions given by the Coordinator of Early Learning and Development, classroom teacher, and other designated supervisors.
- Other duties as required to support the child’s learning and well-being.

**Qualifications**:

- Certification or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Disability Studies, or another field directly related to the care, education, and support of young children with behavioural needs.
- Experience supporting young children with behavioural needs in an educational setting.
- Experience working with young children with neuro-diverse profiles and/or mental health concerns
- Knowledge of behavioural intervention strategies and inclusive education practices.
- Valid Standard First Aid certification.
- Strong French comprehension is required; fluent spoken French is a very strong asset.

**Compensation**

As per the **CFIS Hourly pay grid**.
