**JOB SUMMARY**
- You assist with the creation and maintenance of GIS databases for land use, employment and other key variables, and work independently or as a team member on a variety of research and projection GIS projects. The project work deals with analyzing, compiling, organizing, interpreting and processing digital data to produce a variety of geographically related maps, graphic displays, projection models and reports.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of 2 year community college course in Geographic Information Systems, Survey Mapping Technology, Computer Science or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience
**KNOWLEDGE**
- ArcView 8.1, Map database configuration
- Vision, MicroStation, and AutoCAD software
- Digital mapping methods and procedures
- Office automation software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint - Computer graphics workstations and peripherals
- Current GIS computer technology
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

**WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
