**PROJECT ASSISTANT INTERN**

Established by Nishnawbe Aski Nation, The Oshki-Pimache-O-Win: The Wenjack Education Institute provides culturally appropriate education and training programs through blended delivery methods using e-learning platforms, attending on-campus sessions in Thunder Bay, and by distance learning. We offer choice, accessibility, flexibility in learning opportunities for people seeking new beginnings to improve the quality of their lives through education and training. We are looking for a highly energetic and dynamic individual for the fulltime contract position of **Project Assistant Intern. ** This position is funded by Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) and applicants must meet their program funding criteria. This position will contribute to projects related to the development of online courses and programs as well as support the production and delivery of instructor-led learning activities.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**:
The Project Assistant Intern is responsible to the Vice President on a day-to-day basis for their duties and responsibilities. The Project Assistant Intern is accountable to the President for overall work performance.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- The specific duties and responsibilities to be performed include:_
- Assist President, Vice President, Director of Student Success and Project Leads on research and preparation of necessary documents for reports;
- Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures;
- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to administration and project team;
- Support the project management team in monitoring project performance (cost, schedule, quality);
- Assist in completing and distributing regular project reports;
- Support in office administration tasks related to on-going projects;
- Identify and assist in areas of work that will ensure a positive stakeholder relationships.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Experience**
- The individual must have qualitative and quantitative research training with experience in Indigenous research methodologies.
- Experience working with Indigenous people and community groups is also required, along with direct experience and knowledge of Indigenous cultures, communities, customs, practices and communication styles. Indigenous ancestry or extensive experience working with Indigenous education preferred, as well as demonstrated knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset.

**Developed Competencies**:

- Strong communication skills that include verbal, written, listening and public speaking;
- Organization and time management skills;
- Proven problem-solving skills;
- Development of progress reports related to projects;
- Ability to travel to remote First Nation communities;
- Hold a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
- Fluency in Ojibwe, Oji-Cree or Cree would be an asset.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Proof of two Covid-19 Vaccines and Booster

**NOHFC Eligibility**
- Either a new entrant into the workforce, is transitioning to a new career, or is unemployed or underemployed and is entering a new field;
- Has not previously participated in NOHFC’s People & Talent Program;
- Is at least 18 years of age;
- Once hired, resides in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed;
- Is legally entitled to work in Canada, and
- Is not a child, sibling, parent or spouse of, or is not cohabitating with, any person involved in the Employer’s hiring procedures or decision-making.
