Steelworker Supervisor

Working on large ships, tugboats, and barges, the Steelworker Supervisor evaluates, directs, and executes the fabrication, installation, and welding of various parts/materials.
**Responsibilities**:
- Communicate work plans/instructions, allocate work, and craft task schedules (e.g., weekly, biweekly, monthly)
- Supervise, lead, train, and manage allotted manpower
- Read/interpret drawings and specifications to understand the scope of work
- Oversee and assist with the following duties:
- Operate manual and semi-automatic Stick, Flux-Core, MIG and TIG welders to fuse metal segments
- Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
- Operate or assist with the use of metal shaping machines such as shears, brakes and other straightening or bending machines.
- Set up/ take down/maintain welding equipment
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Minimum 5 year’s experience in a Steelworker supervisor role in a construction or maintenance settings
- Minimum 5 years of Welding/Fitting experience
- Strong understanding of various welding techniques
- Ability to operate various fabrication equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ship repair experience preferred
- CWB Certified is preferred
