**Position Summary**:
As a member of the Public Works Team, the Truck Driver/Equipment Operator operates the water truck, mulcher, and other heavy equipment, ensuring that roadways are accessible, safe and in good condition.
The Truck Driver/Equipment Operator may provide back-up support within the Public Works Operations as required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Work with the Reclamation Grader Operator to mulch and repair road surfaces.
- Be a part of the on-call highway plow rotation during the winter months.
- Report any dangerous or unsafe road conditions.
- Perform all daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Perform general care and maintenance of all equipment being used; notify the Foreman of any repairs required.
- Maintain a clean, organized and secure work area.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable Wheatland County policies and bylaws.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S including attendance at safety meetings, being properly trained in OH&S related topics, and ensuring work is completed in a safe manner.
- Appropriately, and in a timely manner complete administrative tasks when required.
- Relate to and communicate with co-workers, management, customers and vendors sincerely, clearly, tactfully, promptly and courteously; respond to inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Perform tasks, consistent with the position, including special projects / assignments, as may be required on an ad hoc basis.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience working with heavy equipment including equipment maintenance and storage procedures
- Experience and knowledge of road construction, snow removal and maintenance
- Valid Class 3 Alberta drivers’ license
**Working Conditions**:
- (Approximately) April - November (Summer Season) - Monday to Friday; 50 regular hours/week;
- (Approximately) December - March (Winter Season) - Monday to Friday; 40 regular hours/week;
- Standby hours for snow plowing on weekends between October to April may be required.
- Overtime may be required
