The School's mission is to provide medical and dental pre-and post-doctoral education programs. At Schulich Dentistry, we prepare qualified graduates to provide dental care as well as generate knowledge through clinical research, basic science research and other scholarly activity. We also provide oral health care to the public through our on-site clinics and our community outreach programs, specifically, Dental Outreach Community Service (DOCS) and Oral Health, Total Health. **Responsibilities**: - The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry Hygiene Program operates on a varying schedule each week. The Dental Hygienist is to provide maintenance services, dental hygiene treatment, and information related to the prevention of diseases and disorders of the teeth and mouth to the patient population in the dental clinics. The incumbent will be responsible for taking x-rays as deemed necessary by the Dentist and ensuring that patient charts are completed properly. The Dental Hygienist will maintain, clean and ensure the sterilization of all instruments.**Qualifications**: **Education**: - Ontario Certified Dental Hygienist **Experience**: - 2 years' experience as a practicing Dental Hygienist Skills, Abilities & Expertise: - HARP (Health and Radiation Protection) Certification, WHMIS, CPR, and First Aid Training - Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience - Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards - Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation - Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions - Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work - Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs - Demonstrated ability to take initiative, to work independently, and follow through on work assignments - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public - Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals - Ability to provide information and guidance in a way that is positively received **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
