**Position Description**:
We are looking for a Patient Information Clerk to join the POCU (Perioperative Care Unit) team. In this position you will work closely with the Pre-Op, OR, and PACU clerical staff to ensure efficient flow of patients through the department. You will support the work of POCU, by ensuring that patient information is readily available and proper processes are followed. You will have frequent contact with the nursing and support staff of all areas within POCU, the surgeons, residents, fellows, and anesthesia, POCU support services and others. You will facilitate the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to the POCU multidisciplinary team and patients/families. This position supports the operation of the team/department by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive, organized manner.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**:

- Greet patients and families and assist in meeting their needs when appropriate.
- Support flow of families between the Surgical Waiting Room and POCU
- Provide families with updates as appropriate
- Facilitate communication between patients/families and the POCU team
- Coordinate unit administrative functions to ensure efficient operation of the unit, within scope of authority.
- Provide clerical support to all health care staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Here's What You'll Need**:

- Diploma from a recognized Administrative/Secretarial program or equivalent work experience (considered an asset)
- Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic proficiency with computers (i.e. word processing).
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities.
- Ability be self-directed, flexible and to take initiative.
- Attention to detail and efficient time management.
- Strong customer service orientation.

**Employment Type**: Part-time Causal

**Hours of Work**: Various shifts which could included days, evenings, and/or weekend days and evenings and stat hoildays
