**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs for **sewer and water installation, repair, and rehabilitation projects**.
- Conduct **worksite inspections** to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OHS regulations and company policies.
- Provide **safety training** on topics such as **confined space entry, trenching and excavation safety, hazardous materials handling, fall protection, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements**.
- Ensure proper **trench safety, shoring, and sloping techniques** are followed to prevent cave-ins and worker injuries.
- Oversee **safe work practices** for **trenchless technologies**, including **horizontal boring, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), and pipe bursting**.
- Monitor and enforce **permit requirements** for excavation, confined space entry, and hazardous materials handling.
- Investigate **accidents, near misses, and incidents**, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of **emergency response plans** for sewer and water worksites.
- Conduct **risk assessments** and provide recommendations to mitigate safety hazards.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inspection of **respiratory protection, gas detection monitors, and other safety equipment**.
- Work closely with site supervisors, contractors, and municipal inspectors to maintain safety standards.
- Maintain and update safety records, documentation, and compliance reports.
- Stay current with **Alberta OHS legislation, CSA standards, and industry best practices**.
- Promote a strong **safety culture** through communication, toolbox talks, and worker engagement.

**Required Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Certified National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)** is highly preferred.
- Minimum **3-5 years of experience** in occupational health and safety, preferably in **civil construction, sewer and water infrastructure, or municipal projects**.
- Strong knowledge of **trenching, excavation, confined space entry, and hazardous materials safety**.
- Experience working with **trenchless technologies (CIPP, pipe bursting, horizontal boring)** is an asset.
- **Valid Class 5 Driver’s License** (Class 1 or 3 with air brakes is an asset).

- Strong understanding of **Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Code, CSA standards, and environmental regulations**.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience conducting **site audits, hazard assessments, and safety investigations**.
- Strong knowledge of **hydrostatic testing, wastewater management, and municipal sewer regulations**.
- Ability to create and deliver **safety training presentations** for workers and supervisors.
- Familiarity with **safety software and reporting tools**.
- Knowledge of **environmental protection regulations** related to sewer and water infrastructure projects.
- Ability to handle **emergency response situations, spill containment, and incident reporting**.

**Work Environment & Conditions**:

- Primarily outdoor work in active construction zones.
- Exposure to **hazardous environments**, including **confined spaces, heavy equipment, and wastewater**.
- Work in all weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
- Combination of field and office work, with frequent travel to job sites.
- Regular use of **PPE, including respirators, harnesses, and gas detection monitors**.
