**Expert LEGO® Robotics Instructor - Advanced Curriculum**
Are you a highly qualified STEM professional ready to leverage your technical expertise and competition background to inspire the next generation? We are seeking an exceptional LEGO Robotics Instructor to lead our advanced educational programs for children aged 6-18. This role requires a strong academic foundation and proven, hands-on experience with both mechanical design and multiple programming languages.
**Job Descriptions** You will be responsible for delivering a high-level, challenging curriculum utilizing LEGO, EV3, Spike Prime, and other platforms. You will guide student teams through the entire engineering design process, from concept and construction to complex programming and rigorous testing.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Advanced Instruction**: Teach fundamental principles of robotics, including mechanical advantage, sensor feedback loops, and control theory.
- **Multi-Language Programming**: Instruct students in various programming environments, with a focus on transitioning from visual/block-based coding to text-based languages.
- **Competition Prep**: Lead and coach student teams for regional and national robotics competitions (e.g., FIRST LEGO League), focusing on strategy, iterative design, and performance optimization.
- **Classroom Management**: Maintain a high-energy, organized, and focused learning environment that encourages deep learning and collaborative problem-solving.
**Non-Negotiable Requirements**: Technical and Educational Expertise
**Education**: A Bachelor's degree or higher is required in one of the following technical fields:
- **Computer Science / Computer Programming**:
- **Engineering** (Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace)
- **Applied Mathematics or Physics** (with significant programming/robotics coursework)
- **Competition Experience** :Previous, verifiable experience participating in and/or coaching a student robotics competition is an asset. This practical experience is essential for effective competition-focused instruction. Relevant competitions include:
- FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
- VEX Robotics
- RoboCup Junior
- Other recognized national or international student robotics challenges.
- **Block-Based Coding**: Expertise in visual programming environments likeScratch and the LEGO Education software platforms (Spike Prime, EV3).
- **Text-Based Languages**: Proven coding ability in at least one of the following:
- **Python**:
- **Java**:
- **Mechanical Aptitude**: Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gear ratios, torque, speed, and effective robot construction techniques.
