Clarke and Associates has attracted private land development clients and builders through providing Civil (Municipal) Engineering, Professional Planning, and Survey services. A. J. Clarke is a division of TULLOCH, a robust multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm recognized Canada-wide for its strengths in diverse service offerings and commitment to excellence.
Based in Hamilton, the **Junior or Intermediate Planner** will report to the Planning Manager and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on planning services. You will be part of a team that offers services and expertise to private and government sector clients throughout the Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara regions and beyond.
**What You’ll Do**:
The Planner will be part of the Planning team at A. J. Clarke. You will:
- Assist Senior Planners preparing Planning Justification Reports
- Prepare for Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) hearings
- Liaise with clients and other professionals concerning planning and development submissions

**Who You Are**:
- As an Intermediate Planner, you have 3+ years of relevant experience working in land use planning and development, either in the private sector or at the municipal level
- You have working knowledge of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Growth Plan, Niagara Escarpment Plan, Greenbelt Plan, municipal Official Plans and Zoning or Development Permit By-Laws
- You are someone who makes decisions/exercises independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
- You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
- You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
- You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
**What You Should Bring**:
- High motivation with results-oriented focus
- Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including analysis and negotiation
- Ability to manage and navigate confidential and sensitive data and matters
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Class “G” driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
