We are currently seeking a Research Analyst to contribute to the work of our emergency and business continuity managers by providing research and data analysis to support the development of evidence-based resources and tools. The work will entail data collection and analysis, research and synthesis of information, and preparation of presentations, charts, and tables.
You will be joining a team of hard-working, friendly professionals from a wide range of backgrounds who are united in their desire to increase disaster preparedness and community resiliency.

**What you’ll do**
While working closely with others in the team, you will provide a wide range of technical and analytical support, including:
- Reviewing secondary data sources to identify and synthesize industry standards, leading practices, regulatory requirements, and legislation.
- Conducting research and analysis to support the development of emergency plans, including assessment of data on population demographics, hazards, and risks.
- Developing and enhancing tools to support effective and efficient data collection and analysis.
- Supporting data collection activities (e.g. administering web-based surveys, developing interview questions) and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
- Presenting results of data analysis and research efforts in visual, easily understandable formats (e.g. charts, tables, and other data visualizations).
- Designing creative, user-friendly fact sheets, reports, and presentations.
- Developing and maintaining effective information management systems on SharePoint.
- Supporting project management analyzing project data and generating reports.

You may be right for this role if you have:
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., social sciences, commerce, statistics or math, public administration, business administration);
- At least two (2) years of directly related experience in a related role with a track record of having a positive impact through the work you do.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- Experience conducting research (including environmental and jurisdictional scans) and providing critical appraisal and synthesis of policy, regulatory requirements, best practices, and standards;
- Excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information;
- Experience supporting data collection activities (e.g. conducting web-based surveys, developing interview questions) and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data;
- Experience assessing the quality of quantitative data (e.g., checking for limitations, problems, accuracy, reliability, and/or validity) and cleaning data;
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel (ideally, you love a pivot table and possibly delight in the power of INDEX/MATCH or XLOOKUP).
Communication & Collaboration Skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly explain your thought process and results;
- Experience preparing clear and concise briefing notes, presentations, reports, and correspondence;
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
