Terracon Geotechnique Ltd. - an employee owned, Alberta based company, is looking for a **_Laboratory Supervisor_** in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
**What You Can Expect**
The Laboratory Supervisor must also ensure the CCIL Certified Concrete Laboratory is compliant to CCIL standards to obtain and maintain certification.
**_** This is a 10-month contract position._**
**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Ensure laboratory services are being performed in a safe quality and efficient manner
- Monitor day-to-day unit activities to meet project deliverables
- Assist with the preparation of time and cost estimates for various upcoming projects
- Supervise the testing of all laboratory samples that are received by soils laboratory
- Schedule soils and concrete laboratory technicians, as well as assigning daily tasks to optimize efficiency
- Monitor the condition of all laboratory equipment and initiate preventative maintenance as required
- Ensure all applicable standards (CSA, ASTM, etc.) are being complied with for any/all testing conducted in the lab
- Assist with responding to client’s requests and concerns in a timely fashion
- Ensure laboratory equipment and equipment calibrations are compliant with the legislative requirements and are in good working conditions, and records kept in proper order for future audits and certification requirements
- Track and label all concrete equipment for field use, including updating of Equipment/Calibration Tracking Spreadsheet
- Train “New-to-CCIL” employees prior to and after CCIL Certification Testing
- Lead and support investigations of Non-Compliances Concrete Testing procedures, laboratory equipment specifications, etc.
- General Overview of CCIL Program and reporting of any issues to Supervising Engineer.
**What We’re Looking For**
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental, or Geotechnical Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience
- 5+ years of materials testing experience (soil, concrete, etc)
- Active and valid CCIL/CSA designation is considered an asset
- Knowledgeable of SpectraQest considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with a high understanding of Excel
- Time management skills, organizational skills, independent thinking skills, problem solving and analytical skills

**Working Conditions, Schedule, and Physical Requirements**
- Field Environment: operations take place on commercial, industrial, and infrastructure project sites
- Lab Environment: operations take place indoors with regular noise exposure
- Working outdoors in extreme winter and summer temperatures and conditions may be required
- Physical demands include but not limited to prolonged standing, repetitive movement, and lifting up to 50 LBS.
- Rotational schedule including days, nights, and weekends
- Legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and 2 years’ driving experience
- Driving long distances may be required; Ability to drive a 4x4 off road
