Local 68 **Req Id**:548 **Job Code**:5500 **Number of Openings**: 6 **Overview** (Temporary Full Time for Approximately 5 Months) **Responsibilities** - Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads. - Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes. - Maintaining waste receptacles, cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland. - Winter work includes snow plowing and salting. - Performs other related duties as assigned. **Education** - Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. **Additional Requirements** - Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers. - Available for winter call outs as required. - Shift work may be required for winter maintenance activities. - Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** - Good communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records. - Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour and be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills. - Good customer service skills. - Ability to participate as an effective team member. - Please note that as per Human Resources Policy HUM-HIR-110, "Employment of Relatives of Staff Members and Elected Officials":_ - "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all Directors, General Managers, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity._ - The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_ - 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full-time and part-time classifications._ - 2. within the same Division in the case of students."_ **Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract Contract length: 5 months Pay: $25.64 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Work Location: In person
