The Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES), is an interdisciplinary initiative supported by the Faculty of Science (host faculty), Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Social Science, and other contributing faculties. It is home to the Masters of Environment and Sustainability program and the Collaborative Environment and Sustainability program
**Course Information**:
The foundations course is specifically designed to cover a broad range of issues in sustainability from the history of environmental science and current sustainability practices to the ethics of sustainability and the future of sustainable development. The foundations course focuses on developing skills for employment opportunities in sustainability including local NGOs, applied academic research, government policy, international diplomacy and corporate sustainability. Case studies are specially selected to integrate theory with applied practice and build a diverse collection of real-world examples for graduates to draw upon in the future.
**Please Note** that the MES program plans to have two sections for this course, with a team of instructors:
- Each instructor will be hired at a 0.25 FCE.- There will be a total of 12 sessions for each section at 3.5 hours per session.- Section 001 delivered 9-12:30 and section 002 1:30-4:00 pm on the same day- All applicants must be available for both section times- Some classes will take place in the Fall term with the remainder in the Winter term.- Course will be delivered weekly- The days of instruction may vary from week to week.
**Responsibilities**:
You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.
**Qualifications**:
In accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, experience, and qualifications, including qualifications which go beyond the requirements for the position. Applicants should have fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
