Job Description: **MANAGER, INDIGENOUS RELATIONS** Victoria, Richmond or Nanaimo - BC Ferries recognizes that we operate in the territory of over 80 First Nations who have cared for the land and waters up and down the coast of British Columbia since time immemorial._ **The opportunity** We are searching for a Manager, Indigenous Relations to join our team. As a critical member of the Indigenous Relations team, you will lead and grow a team of relationship and project advisors, and will develop and lead the implementation of a corporate First Nations and Indigenous relations and engagement strategies. **The Role** Reporting to the Executive Director, External Engagement, you add value by key areas of oversight, including: - Supervising and mentoring a team, providing support and guidance to ensure professional quality materials, processes and relationships; - Leading discussions with First Nations communities on matters of interest, including the development of formal agreements where required; - Providing advice and recommendations to staff including executive, based on the outcomes of these discussions; - Supporting formal consultation activities to meet crown agency requirements is also part of this role; - Building policies and processes with other areas of BC Ferries to to develop organizational capacity and provide opportunity for participation in working with First Nations communities; - Working closely with capital project leads, the Public Affairs and Marketing Division, and others to ensure BC Ferries is meeting its protocol commitments and creating shared opportunities for First Nations communities in B.C.; **What you bring to the team** You have at least 3 years of direct supervisory experience and are confident straddling the corporate and Indigenous relationship spaces. You are a leader in First Nations relationship building with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal relationship skills. You are exceptional in building cultural awareness, understanding and capacity within an organization, and understand how to develop corporate strategies to enable and benefit Indigenous relationships. You have a degree in Indigenous studies, professional communications, law, public policy, business, or related field.
