**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Coordinator, Drug Procurement and Inventory Systems, in conjunction with the Coordinator determines pharmaceutical requirements and specifications and purchases items such as drugs and other supplies according to established departmental purchasing policies and procedures. Develops, implements, and maintains computerized and manual systems to control inventory content and levels. Supervises Buyer and assigned staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Grade 12, graduation from a recognized Pharmacy Technician course, supplemented by recognized purchasing courses, plus five years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Ability to type.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to supervise.
