Every year CHEO helps more than 500,000 children and youth from Eastern Ontario, western Quebec, Nunavut and Northern Ontario.- As a part of a multidisciplinary team, develops and implements appropriate developmental activities for children attending CHEO Preschool. Responsibilities include individual care management and facilitating medical procedures (medication administration) as required. Acceptable professional standards and practices are defined by CHEO and the CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act).
- **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- In coordination with the multidisciplinary preschool team and parents and in consultation with the Preschool Educator Team Lead / Manager, develops individual program objectives for the assigned caseload.
- Implements established activity plans and classroom routines.
- Observes, monitors, and communicates progress and/or concerns to the Preschool Educator Team Lead / Manager and the preschool team.
- Observes, monitors, and communicates progress and/or concerns to the families and works with them to problem solve, when appropriate.
- Documents observations of children on caseload in the form of progress notes, creates individual Early Learning Plans for all children on caseload and participates in the creation of Careplans.
- Attends staff, team and case conference meetings.
- In consultation with the Preschool Educator Team Lead / Manager, supervises E. C. E. students on placement in the preschool program.
- In consultation with the Preschool Educator Team Lead / Manager, provides direction for volunteers assigned to the preschool program.
- Assumes support responsibilities. Specifically: washing dishes and toys, cleaning tables and equipment as required.

- Provides care management for children on assigned caseload, as necessary. Specifically: clothing and diaper change, oral feeding, lifting and positioning.
- Facilitates medical procedures, as necessary. Specifically: seizure management, anaphylaxis, administration and documentation of oral medication.
- Completes required documentation and data for statistical reporting to the ministry.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and procedures related to privacy.
- Follows organizational policies and procedures related to safety, including reporting and follow-up for incidents/accidents and near misses, identification and management of risks and emergency procedures eg. medication administration, seizure management, anaphylaxis and EpiPen use, calling CHEO emergency codes.
- Follows routine precautions for infection prevention and control including proper hand hygiene.
- Participates in education and improvement activities related to safety.

- Receives training in safe and effective use of equipment, ensures that any equipment used with client is clean and in proper working order; reports any equipment in need of repair or maintenance.
- Educates clients and their families and helps them understand their role in promoting safety.
- Receives training and maintains current knowledge of CPR and/or First Aid in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

- Recognized Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalency (Essential)
