Why is this role important?
Position: Manager - Raw Materials
Reporting: Director - Sourcing
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide recommendations and guidance to design and cross functional partners for leveraging Fabric qualities across the divisions.
- Analyze category specific fabric needs and action into developments that are within cost and aesthetic parameters.
- Partner with product development and design to ensure that fabrics are within pricing architecture & required quality parameters.
- Negotiate costs, minimums, lead-times, purchasing terms with the suppliers.
- Identify fabrics that need to be cost engineered and communicate with the mills.
- Identify & maintain fabric mills that meet category specific sourcing strategy.
- Support fabric process discipline throughout product-to-market calendar to ensure alignment at each key milestone.
- Track fabric development KPIs on number of seasonal developments.
- Track fabric testing report and risk assessment tool to level set expectations across functional areas.
- Maintain open and frequent communication with design, product development, QA, Color and production on all issues related to material costing, quality, delivery, and supplier performance issues
- Create and maintain seasonal materials libraries in PLM /3D CLO and physical libraries.
- Managing physical library for approved qualities and proper organization and filing of all approved and development fabrics.
- Provide assistance to design team in finding the appropriate quality in the library
- Assist and ensure development is flowing within calendar timelines
Qualification & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile with 6-8 years’ experience in fabric development and Sourcing
- Strong technical understanding of woven & knit fabrics
- Ability to identify different fabric types, dyeing & printing processes to lead the costing discussion with mills
- Experienced in working with different fabric mills in Asia
- Self-starter, flexible thinker, and outstanding communicator, comfortable working cross functionally
- Sharp negotiator
- Ability to multi-task, attention to detail, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
