North star Vinyl Windows and Doors is one of Canada’s premier manufacturers of vinyl windows and patio doors for both the new construction and renovation window markets.

**This Buyer role ensures the supply of Direct Materials to production and develop/maintain Supplier relations**

**Job Requirements**:

- Monitor inventory levels and order replacement stock as required through the company’s MRP module
- Maintain supplier information in the purchasing module of Cantor, including USMCA Certificates for items purchased.
- Support the Materials Manager in selecting suppliers and maintaining supplier relations.
- Monitor Supplier Performance as it relates to delivery, quality and service.
- Coordinate between production and the supplier for quality concerns.
- Supports AAMA, Energy Star and CSA manufacturing and quality standards.
- Work with material handlers to support inventory controls and inventory levels.
- Root cause inventory discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Work with production and Finance to develop and maintain minimum inventory levels.
- Works with Shipping to ensure customs and USMCA information is correct.
- Works in safe and organized manner.

**Purchasing - Direct buy**:
Analyze and adjust order points and order quantities in Cantor (our MRP system).

Analyze and place orders based on our MRP (Material Requirement Planning) system calculations.

Verify that a PO confirmation is received and it matches the purchase order

Monitor for any late purchase orders and follow up with Vendors.

Negotiate and try to mitigate any cost increases from our Vendors.

Help Engineering / production team Source new items and help the Purchasing manager negotiate pricing.

Review receiving reports when product is delivered and match packing slips to Purchase orders. These are forwarded to accounting to be matched with the invoices for payment.

**Purchasing - Indirect Buy.**

Source and place orders for indirect supplies from standard vendors in our indirect purchasing system (Maintenance Connection).

Create and track purchase order deliveries. Follow up on late purchase orders.
