At Western, the Student Experience portfolio is organized into three inter-dependent pillars that provide the programmes and supports that inspire Western Students to discover themselves; engage with their communities and thrive as learners. These Pillars are: Wellness & Wellbeing (Wellness Education Centre, Health & Wellness Centre, and Student Support & Case Management), Sport & Recreation (Sport, Recreation, and Spirit & Tradition), and Leadership & Learning (Academic Support & Enrichment, Careers & Experience). Professional and student staff working across these three pillars collaborate with student organizations and academic and administrative leaders throughout campus to foster inclusive and wholistic learning environments that maximize the potential of each student.

**Responsibilities**

As a key member of the Wellness & Wellbeing (Student Experience) team, the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Education Coordinator will develop strategies and support the provision of equity, diversity, and inclusion education for student’s on-campus. The Coordinator will create, facilitate, and assess student training sessions, workshops, and awareness events to promote dialogue, increase understanding, and foster learning through an intersectional approach. The Coordinator will work closely with campus partners and stakeholders to promote, implement and engage programs that promote diversity and inclusion among students. In addition, the role will support the implementation of anti-racism and anti-oppression strategy for Western University and engage with external stakeholders.

**Qualifications**

- Education

  • Master’s degree in Education, Student Affairs, Sociology or another field related to equity, diversity and inclusion

- Experience

  • 3 years’ experience working in education sectors (including secondary/postsecondary education), with a specific interest and experience in working with students in an equity, diversity and inclusion focused role
  • Experience planning and implementing education programs for young adults or post-secondary students

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Current awareness and understanding of new and relevant information related to the field
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in attending skills, empathy, problem solving and evidence-based strategies in responding to disclosures of sexual violence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to deal with sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Thorough knowledge of university level academic demands, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills
  • Ability to evaluate future implications of strategies, and consider the outcomes of situations that could develop from decisions
  • Strong facilitation and teaching skills with the ability to present to small and large audiences
  • Ability to work well under pressure with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with students with diverse life and school experiences
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work innovatively
  • Strong team skills complimented by the ability to work independently
  • Advanced computer skills including creative presentation design, word processing and database management
