Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the **Supervisor** is responsible to work collaboratively to ensure improvement and excellence within the department.

In collaboration with the Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for: supervising staff, approving time and payroll, developing work schedules, administering HR processes and protocols related to providing orientation and training, delivering performance management, staff engagement, and recruitment.

Guiding day-to-day departmental work, the Supervisor demonstrating accountability and commitment in order to develop a work environment that exemplifies inter-professional and ethical practice professional autonomous decision-making empowerment, integrative thinking and problem solving.

This is a unique opportunity for a leader to display their strengths and talents in process redesign, program evaluation and development while using LEAN leadership methodology and principles. The successful incumbent will play a key frontline leadership role in developing housekeeping strategies and will work collaboratively to ensure quality service delivery in a timely and safe manner within a very fast-paced environment.

**HOURS**:
The successful applicant will be expected to work 37.50 hours per week. In addition, the successful applicant must be flexible in adjusting their schedule to meet the needs of the department on an ongoing basis. In addition to daytime hours, a balance of evenings, weekends, and night shifts will be required. In addition, the Supervisor will also be required to occasionally be on-call.

**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

- Ontario Hospital Association Environmental Services Level II Certificate is required; or must be obtained within three (3) months of start date
- Current active member in good standing with the Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers Association
- Successful completion of post-secondary diploma or degree
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of unionized work environments grievances, and collective agreements
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience preferably within Housekeeping in a healthcare environment; with progressive leadership experience being given preference
- Must possess a solid understanding of housekeeping standards including PIDAC standards and other Infection Prevention and Control Standards
- Demonstrated behaviours supporting our core values/mission with values-based leadership and a proven track record
- Demonstrated track record of delivering results with excellent financial and quality management
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety at STEGH
- Demonstrated leader, ability to develop self and others through coaching, mentoring and formal processes
- Self-directed and highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders
- Recognition, understanding and demonstrated Emotional Intelligence (EI), particularly emotional self-awareness, assertiveness, optimism, stress tolerance and empathy
- Demonstrated track record as a highly regarding contributor within the management team
- Experience leading in an accountable culture using evidence-based leadership practices
- Experience in a LEAN environment with a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in healthcare preferred
- Well-developed proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs and working knowledge of housekeeping functions and software programs (ie. Work orders, equipment tracking, Ormed, Kronos, etc.) would be a definite asset.
- Possess a Safety Leadership training certificate (Public Services Health and Safety Association or equivalent) or be willing to obtain within six (6) months.
