**Shore Staff**

This is an entry-level position with our team at Toronto SUP & Kayak and a great way to get started in the booming outdoor recreation paddling industry.

The Shore Staff position is perfect for people who enjoy spending summers outdoors and are interested in paddlesports. Experience in stand up paddleboarding (SUP) and/or kayaking is an asset, but not required. We are a registered Paddle Canada School and provide ongoing training as well as lots of opportunities for skills development and Paddle Canada certifications through our free course offerings to staff.

As an added bonus and to help our staff to continue to develop their skills and on-water experience, staff are welcome to use our SUP and kayak fleet when available.

As Shore Staff, most of your work will be done on-land supporting our SUP and Kayak rentals, tours and lessons operations.

**Please note**:This position requires hard-work and commitment. It is a very active job that is physically demanding. You should be fit and capable of carrying fairly heavy kayaks with assistance. Toronto SUP & Kayak is located on a busy public beach with very limited options for shelter. Staff are required to dress appropriately for weather conditions and are expected to work outdoors for the duration of their shift.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responding to customer inquiries & providing information about our company and services.
- Assisting customers with reservations in-person and over the phone.
- Greeting customers as they arrive, providing on-shore safety briefings and ensuring that customers have all required safety equipment.
- Carrying SUPs and kayaks with assistance.
- Assisting instructors and guides with set-up and break-down of equipment for lessons and tours.
- Cleaning SUPs and kayaks between rentals and examining vessels for damage or missing components.
- Assisting with start-of-day opening & set-up and/or end-of-day tear down and pack-up.
- Keeping our premises and equipment clean and organized.

**Qualifications**

We recognize that this is an entry-level position and are willing to invest in helping you develop your customer-service skills and paddling certifications. In turn, we are looking for Shore Staff who have the following qualifications
- Positive and friendly attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Enthusiastic about learning, participating in and promoting recreational paddlesports.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong swimming skills.
- Enjoy spending lots of time outdoors.
- Able to help carry SUPs and kayaks and assist with physically demanding tasks.
- First-Aid or Lifeguard Certification (if you do not have a First Aid certification you will be required to get First-Aid certified once accepted for the position).

**Schedule**

Toronto SUP & Kayak is currently seeking Shore Staff who are able work the following shifts

**Afternoon/Evening Shift**
- Sunday: 4:30pm to 9:00pm
- Monday: 4:30pm to 9:00pm
- Tuesday: 5:00pm to 9:00pm
- Wednesday: 5:00pm to 9:00pm
- Thursday: 5:00pm to 9:00pm
- Saturday: 5:00pm to 9:00pm

**Compensation**
- Starting at $15 per hour.
