Our industry recognition is a testament to the family values we share with our parent company, McCain Foods Limited. **About the Role** Operations Supervisor Full-time Sudbury, ON The scope of this position will be to supervise a time sensitive delivery operation. This includes managing day to day operations, dock workers, drivers, fleet & fleet maintenance, dispatch operations, reverse dock operations and on-site customer dock operations. Ensure all operations remain compliant with the Safety and Compliance department. **How You’ll Help** - Working with the Dedicated Leadership Team, ensure that, as the company grows, operations capabilities meet or exceed all customer and corporate requirements for unit cost, service quality and responsiveness. - Develop a culture of safety, professionalism and service excellence in all areas of operations. Maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial transportation requirements and onsite customer safety program. - Work closely with the Director Operations on operational plans, goals, and contributing to future innovations. - Provide daily guidance to staff, to ensure alignment with operational and customer expectations. - Ensure that all incidents (such as personal injuries; transportation collisions; spills etc) are promptly reported, documented, root causes identified and corrective/preventative measures implemented. - Will be responsible for the on-time reporting function to ensure drivers are scheduled to meet company deliveries on time, including customer service reporting for customer relations. - Will manage the relationship with drivers, including, but not limited to driver schedules, equipment utilization, and driver contracts. - Ensure that a preventative maintenance program is in place and effective. - Provides mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees. Establishes individual objectives, conducts performance appraisal reviews, recommends salary action, and implements succession planning. Oversees and manages professional development to support leadership development program. - Utilize superior communications skills to motivate staff and develop effective peers, managers and clients. - Develop, implement and track on a monthly basis, an operational "dash board" for visual understanding of performance against plan elements. - Ensure all external stakeholder processes are followed and adhered to (SOP, SOS, JES, ) - Other related duties as may be required **Your Skills & Experience**: - Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience - Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial - Previous experience in dispatch and dock supervision/management - Communication skills - advanced - Computer skills - accuracy, MS products, AS400, web based programs, RF Scanners. - Demonstrated customer relationship skills - Strong conflict resolution skills - Able to work deadlines in high transactional environment, must have a strong sence of urgency - Ability to champion business needs in a collaborative manner to colleagues - Results focused - Must be a hands on operator, trainer, coach and mentor - Must be a self starter - Equipment knowledge is an asset - Safety training interest, knowledge and skills is an asset - DZ license required - Able to work with little supervision - Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment - Travel may be required and may incompass up to 15% - Dock environment includes close proximity to moving vehicles and equipment - Office environment with computer work and handling of documentation - As a federally regulated employer, Day & Ross fully supports the principles of employment equity and encourages all qualified members of the designated groups to apply._ **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Company pension - Dental care - Disability insurance - Extended health care - Life insurance - Paid time off - Vision care Schedule: - 8 hour shift Ability to commute/relocate: - Greater Sudbury, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) **Experience**: - warehouse: 1 year (preferred) Work Location: One location
