The Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, and Hamilton Halton (ASBHNHH) is looking for a passionate and qualified counsellor to provide counselling and support services to persons living with dementia and their caregivers, in accordance with the Alzheimer Society’s Strategic Plan. These services are delivered in-office, by home visits, and by phone, using both individual and group approaches. This counsellor position is 35 hours per week at our Brant County offices located in Brantford and Paris and may include occasional travel throughout the County of Brant. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but occasional evening work may be required.
The salary range for this job is $40,040 to $61,207 based on 1820 hours annually (35 hours per week). We also offer a competitive Group Benefits and RRSP package.
This position is located at both our Brantford and Paris offices. This position also includes occasional travel within the County of Brant. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but occasional evening work may be required.
**Specialized Knowledge and Skill Requirements**:
- Experience working with people with dementia and their families
- Support group leadership experience
- Ability to speak French or a second language is considered an asset
- Eligibility to become a member of a professional college
- Experience using Microsoft Office software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Clear verification of criminal references for the vulnerable sector
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Ability to work independently, professionally, and collaboratively
- Some remote work may be required
**Educational Requirements**:
University or university degree in social work (MSW, BSW, SSW) or comparable pedagogical preparation for the position.
