**POSITION FUNCTION**:
Performs functions related to electrical trades work in the maintenance and upgrade of the water, sewer, storm drain and SCADA systems.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES**:
- Install and maintain instrumentation as it relates to SCADA systems.
- Motor control panel construction and maintenance.
- Programmable logic controller/Remote Terminal Unit and Human Machine Interface programming and diagnostics.
- Installation and maintenance of wired and wireless communications systems.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning pump motors.
- Record and document, as appropriate, any task carried out.
- Diagnose and repair miscellaneous electronic equipment as required.
- Ordering, stocking and tracking maintenance equipment and parts.
- Holds required annual operating permit on behalf of the City for the operation and maintenance of all water and wastewater facilities.
- Carry out functions in a professional and safe manner.
May be required to substitute in a more senior position.

Use of personal vehicle not required.
**Detail any adverse conditions (e.g. Extremes of light, temp), which the position may involve.**
- Subject to call-out at any hour or day to assess/dispatch emergency response/repairs due to accidents, storms, or equipment failures 24 hours a day.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
**Qualifications Required for this Position - Basic Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- High school graduation
- Must hold a valid Red Seal BC Certificate in Trades Qualification as an Industrial Electrician or Instrumentation and Control Technician (Industrial Instrument Mechanic) with a minimum of two years of related experience.
- Electronics Engineering Technology from an accredited school will be considered an asset.
- Environmental Operators Certification Program certifications in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection will be considered an asset.
- Confined space training.
- Completion of a course and up to date knowledge in the CEC.
- Current and valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license
**Skills**:
- Organize and prioritize the work.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and related codes.
- Interpret related policies and regulations.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and testing at a system or component level.
- Must have a working knowledge of PLC’s and their programming techniques.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Use hand, power, measuring tools and diagnostic instruments of the trade.
- Proficient in wiring, cabling and interconnecting electronic and electrical devices.
- Working level operation of MS Office and related specialty software.
- Ability to convey clearly and concisely, technical information in both written and verbal form.
- Represent the City to the public and outside agencies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
**Experience**:
- 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
**Independence**:
- Work is generated by a maintenance schedule, requests from other sections or from Supervisor.
- Work is reviewed through reports and meetings with Supervisor.
**Essential Abilities**:
- Lift and move heavy material and equipment.
- Work in awkward positions - bent over with hands in the air.
- Periods of intense concentration while diagnosing problems.
- Focus on a variety of engineering plans and computer displays.
- Exposure to gas and fumes (vehicle exhaust).
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work from heights.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to climb ladders.
