**Position Description**:
**Clinical Research Student (Part-Time) - Division of Orthopaedic Surgery**

Background information:
The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children and the SickKids Research Institute are dedicated to the enhancement of knowledge and treatment of pediatric orthopaedic conditions by high quality research. Our team of Orthopaedic Surgeons, trainees and research coordinators work collaboratively with multiple disciplines within the hospital to promote healing, prevent injury and improve quality of life through evidence-based medicine and innovation.

Job Responsibilities
- Abstract patient data from medical records
- Enter data and check for accuracy and completeness
- Database maintenance and data quality checks
- Study criteria review - eligibility screening
- Outpatient clinic review (including identification of study patients, obtaining research consent, in-clinic administration of questionnaires, sending/collecting follow-up questionnaires)
- Attendance of hospital teaching/information rounds (for student's interest)
- Must be available to work in person on Tuesdays from 8am to 4pm.

Job Qualifications and

**Required Skills**:

- Currently enrolled in a diploma, undergraduate, or graduate degree in a life science or health-related discipline
- Basic computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing (REDCap experience is an asset)
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as with children and families
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
- Excellent project management skills
- Able to keep written records
- Able to understand written and verbal directions
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology an asset
- Ability to use software programs such as SPSS, SAS, R, or Python are an asset but not required
- Access to a personal laptop is essential
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Compensation, Employment Location Arrangement, and Start and End date
- 14 hours per week, Hybrid - 7 hours in person on Tuesdays and 7 hours remote/flexible
- Start date December 2, 2024
- End date early or mid-March 2025
