**Position Summary**:
This course introduces students to the various models and approaches for designing initiatives that produce positive social impact. Students will consider various social innovation case studies, focus on a societal challenge they are passionate about, conduct field research and stakeholder mapping, and community consultations. You will work closely and in collaboration with students and stakeholders both on
- and off-campus. Students get to select among different tracks, including choosing to either establish a new social enterprise or to work with an existing community organization to support its institutional and financial sustainability or its policy and advocacy efforts. Some students can choose to then enroll in SE300 in the following semester to continue to work on their projects.

**Qualifications - Areas of Specialization**: Studies and/or direct experience in social innovation, social entrepreneurship, and/or community based economic development.
