The **Environmental Project Management Specialist - Habitat Offsetting**(term for a period up to 4 years) is responsible for providing project management, consultation advice, and technical expertise on habitat enhancement projects for offsetting and mitigating effects from infrastructure projects. This role involves leading habitat offsetting projects through concept development, design, permitting, construction, and post-construction phases. Working closely with specialist consultants, this key role leads the consultation and engagement with various internal and external stakeholders including regulatory agencies and First Nations groups to ensure successful outcomes.

**What you do**:

- Act as day-to-day lead on environmental aspects of assigned projects ensuring VFPA expectations and interests are continually met.
- Collaborate to determine the best approach and activities necessary for executing specific projects. Prepare project status updates and presentations, as required.
- Coordinate and participate in post project reviews and document process improvement recommendations.
- Participate in the development of terms of reference for studies and prepare, as required, requests for proposal for selection of specialist consultants to support the assigned project.
- Work with consultants in the preparation of project planning documentation including scope, schedule, budget, communication, change management and stakeholder engagement, and risks.
- Work with the consulting team and contribute to the monitoring of the scope of work. Monitor plan implementation and evaluate progress of specialist consultants and deliverables.
- Critically review and evaluate consultant deliverables in line with agreed budget and objectives of the task in hand.
- Provide VFPA representation at meetings with regulatory agencies, community, First Nations groups and other stakeholders, where tact and diplomacy will be required to facilitate competing priorities to ensure VFPA interests are met.
- Lead consultation and engagement with First Nations groups, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Lead habitat offsetting projects through concept development, design, permitting, construction, and post-construction phases.
- Oversee technical studies and design development of habitat offsetting projects by consultants, including consultation and engagement with First Nations groups and agencies.
- Plan for procurement of contractors and materials to support delivery of habitat offsetting projects.
- Plan for effectiveness monitoring of constructed habitat projects within an adaptive management framework.

**What you bring**:

- Bachelor of Science or another acceptable university degree.
- A minimum of five (5) years of environmental project management experience on large capital infrastructure projects, preferably related to habitat enhancement.
- Experience in design and implementation of habitat offsetting projects and f amiliarity with both federal and provincial environmental regulations and jurisdiction would be an asset.
- Experience with collaboration and consultation with First Nations groups and working under the requirements of federal policy, such as Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) would be an asset.
- Experience in working with multi-discipline engineering and science teams and/or PMP certification would be highly desirable.
