Kitchen Assistant, Cleaner, Dishwasher and Inventory Organizer For A Licensed Child Care Centre **Duties**: - Assist the Cookf with Preparation of a variety of organic, healthy, natural and vegetarian dishes, made from "scratch", limiting salt and sugar. No frozen, prepared, or fast food. Must exercise extreme caution when helping with dietary restricted diets ie. wheat free, dairy and egg free, and vegetarian. .Cleanliness standards must exceed Health Regulations. - Assist Cook with kitchen operations, including some supervised food preparation, and plating - Maintain a spotless, clean, sanitized and organized kitchen area AT ALL TIMES. This position would include cleaning up food carts, rinsing and putting all dishes through the dishwasher and storing clean dishes appropriately. Must be able to lift trays full of dishes into and out of the dishwasher. Pots and some large dishes may need to be washed by hand. - Adhere to and exceed all health and safety regulation **Requirements**: - Proven experience in a professional kitchen - Able to follow routine direction and work well under pressure - Excellent time management skills required to ensure timely meal service and clean up. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail - Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, a Food Handlers Certificate required prior to, or immediately after commencing position - Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with our cook, administration staff and other staff members. Must be a "people person " as our kitchen is the hub of our Child Care Centre. Are you friendly, love children and are able to focus on the tasks at hand. You must be able to multi task. An EXCEPTIONALLY clean, sanitary and tidy kitchen is absolutely necessary with no compromise. Hours are 8 am to 3:30/4:00 pm daily. NO WEEKENDS EVER English, Ukraine or Polish, spoken in the kitchen This is a fast paced job, that follows a schedule for food service: a morning snack ( cereal, toast, pancakes etc.), a full course hot lunch at noon and an afternoon snack (fresh fruit, homemade hummus, veggies and dip, etc) Pay: $17.50 per hour **Benefits**: - Discounted or free food - On-site parking Schedule: - Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: - Hamilton, ON L9B 1B8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) **Experience**: - Kitchen Assistant: 5 years (preferred) **Language**: - English, Polish or Ukraine (preferred) Licence/Certification: - Food Handler Certification (preferred) Work Location: In person
